Immerse yourself in the glory of authentic Napa Valley!
Great wines begin in the vineyard – which you and eleven friends will learn as you spend an evening exploring
Napa Valley vineyard-based wines with a collection of legends in the valley. You’ll rendez-vous at Vine Hill
Ranch in Oakville, where the Phillips family, who has cultivated fine winegrapes there since 1959, welcomes
you to join your hosts: the “cream of the crop” – literally – all six of the past Napa Valley Grapegrowers Growers of the Year. Andy Hoxsey, Andy Beckstoffer, Lee Hudson, Davie Pina, Ron Wicker, and the Phillips Family comprise an elite cast of growers who exemplify the standards of grapegrowing excellence that makes Napa Valley the preeminent winegrape growing region on the world. Never before has this lot of esteemed growers assembled for a private party – a unique experience to remember!
Tucked along the wooded hills of the Mayacamas Mountain Range in Oakville, picturesque Vine Hill Ranch is set amid 160 acres of vines and forestlands and provides the ultimate gathering spot to “vine and dine.” Savor and sip world-class wines at an intimate reception in the vineyards. Relish an unforgettable dinner al fresco under the oaks delectably prepared by celebrated chef, Cindy Pawlcyn, complete with lively discussion by some of the more notable growers of the Napa Valley AND their renowned winemakers. Together, seated alongside the growers, you’ll examine the unique aspects of their exceptional vineyards and taste the tantalizing single-vineyard wines they produce.
You’ll cherish the memories of this magical evening, as a professional photographer chronicles the special moments of the event. The successful bidder will take home a bound coffee table keepsake book to remember all the highlights of the evening. And that’s not all - to commemorate the night, all six growers will personally select and sign a magnum for you!
An enchanted journey to the wine country, a magical night under the stars, a stunning Cindy Pawlcyn feast in the vines, dazzling wines, distinguished winemakers, and award-winning Napa Valley Grapegrowers. Be the first to experience this new signature STOMP lot!

OPENING DAY DOVE SHOOT WITH CONGRESSMAN
MIKE THOMPSONExperience the exciting, fast-paced wing shooting provided by America's favorite game bird!
Design your own privately-guided dove hunt with grapegrower, lifelong sportsman and U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson. Join your host, Larry Bettinelli of Sleeping Lady Vineyard, for the annual Napa Valley dove hunt on Opening Day weekend: September 1 & 2, 2012. Your adventure begins bright and early Opening Day, when you arrive at the Bettinelli Ranch for either the morning hunt or a more leisurely morning spent tuning up your wingshooting skills on the Bettinelli skeet range, guided by one of Napa’s finest instructors, Phil Parker. If you choose to hunt, you’ll head out to the historic Hardin Ranch, a private wonderland for outdoor enthusiasts, featuring endless acres of mountains and grasslands: prime habitat for upland game birds. To ensure you hunt in the finest style, you’ll be outfitted with a Filson bird bag and deluxe hunting stool with your names on them.
Return to the ranch house for mid-morning breakfast on the deck, complete with Marsha Bettinelli’s famous biscuits and gravy, plenty of camaraderie and, of course, tall tales as you recount the day’s fine shooting.
Come dawn Sunday morning, it is back to the action: dove season at its best. When the birds and the lead are flying, there's nothing quite like it! You’ll explore another stunningly beautiful Napa property with hosts Larry Bettinelli and Congressman Thompson. Upon your return, a glorious Sunday brunch awaits you. Hallelujah!
And what’s that in the back of your car? An ice chest overflowing with a bounty of local food and flavors:
homemade canned peaches & apricots, figs, fresh eggs, venison salami, homegrown rabbits already cleaned, and a case of wine handcrafted by the Bettinelli family.
Enjoy a weekend with old friends, fathers and sons, couples - you decide! Seasoned hunters and first-timers welcome.

Andy Beckstoffer has assembled a one-of-a-kind, “case study” to prove that great wine is made in the vineyard: a rare collection of eleven 1.5-liter bottles of wine sourced from his prized To Kalon vineyard! All wines in this lot have received 95-100 point ratings from The Wine Advocate’s Robert Parker. Your new cellar
will include these acclaimed Beckstoffer wines:
2007 Alpha Omega Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 1999 Atalon – Oakville Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 2006 Janzen Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 2004 Karl Lawrence Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard 2006 Calistoga Ranch Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 2004 Macauley Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 2006 Realm Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard 2006 Paul Hobbs Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 2006 Schrader Cellars Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III 2006 Schrader Cellars Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 2006 Jacquelynn Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard From his family to yours, Andy will also pass along a rare and special piece of Napa Valley history: a recently commissioned recreation of the original 1881 map of Napa Valley. This vintage map was meticulously restored to its former glory, overlaid with six of the Beckstoffer Heritage vineyards originally planted in the mid-1800s, and produced at 4’x5’ on high-quality museum-quality canvas. One of only five held in the family, this is a true collector’s item and an impressive artistic statement, the value of which is priceless to those who know and appreciate Beckstoffer’s vineyards and Napa Valley history.
To Kalon, which means “beautiful” in Greek, was planted in 1868 and provides grapes to over 50 wineries. It is arguably one of the most famous vineyards in Napa. Often described as the Grand Cru vineyard of the new world, To Kalon is considered the heart of the historic cult Cabernet movement that swept the Napa Valley in the late ‘90s and continues today. Andy’s meticulous care of the vineyard, combining state-of-the-art technology along with Mother Nature’s supreme blessing, make these supreme vineyard-designated wines, Undeniably To Kalon!
Imagine taking a ½ ton of Andy Beckstoffer’s exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the famed Georges III Vineyard that produced Brown’s highly-regarded Schrader GIII Cabernet Sauvignon (95-97 point rating by Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate), and working with Thomas Rivers Brown, Food & Wine’s 2010 Winemaker of the Year, to create your own one-of-a-kind vintage - with your name on it! Brown has become one of the most sought-after and illustrious winemaking talents in Napa Valley. Senior Editor James Laube, Wine Spectator, awarded two top "99 point" ratings to his 2006 Schrader "Old Sparky" and 2006 Schrader T6 Cabernet Sauvignons (to date, the highest score awarded by Wine Spectator for American wine in their blind tasting program).
You and Andy will “do lunch” at the Beckstoffer vineyard to plan your vintage and discover what makes your wine’s particular harvest and vineyard so unique. No, you are not dreaming - you are winemaking, with the same guys who are responsible for the production of Cabernet Sauvignons that have scored, not one, but TWO perfect “100 point” scores from Robert Parker. Included in this awe-inspiring winemaking adventure are
the following elements:
Los Angeles isn’t the only place with famous contributions memorialized in time! Just like the sparkling stars that grace the sidewalks of Hollywood and Vine – each one of our Napa Valley vineyards are stars on our “Walk of Fame” ~ our rows shimmer with past successes and glow with promises yet to come. Come experience the deep heritage of Vine Hill Ranch, the star-studded wines of J.J. Cohn, and the fresh elegance of Checkerboard Vineyards – each sip, slipping like velvet over your lips being a tip of the hat to our heritage!
Two lucky couples will experience an insider’s only look behind the scenes of a hand-selected collection of Napa’s most historic vineyards, vintages, iconic legends and unsurpassed dining and lodging that comes together to make this lot priceless!
Your personal guide and host is Nancy Duckhorn, marketing advisor to these and other top wine projects in the Napa Valley and a co-founder and partner of Pine Ridge Winery & Archery Summit. Nancy’s unmatched
knowledge of the wine industry makes this an unforgettable experience. Here’s what she has planned for you:
Unfold the mystery of the terroir at the historic, private Vine Hill Ranch in Oakville as you walk the vineyards and taste VHR’s inaugural 2008 Cabernet (94 points – Doug Wilder) with proprietors Bruce and Heather Phillips (the Phillips family was named Napa Valley Grapegrower of the Year, 2011), coveted VHR winemaker Francoise Peschon, and esteemed vineyard manager Mike Wolf. As one of the oldest vineyards in the valley and neighbors like Beckstoffer and Harlan, VHR is steeped in history and respected for its premium cabernet grapes featured in Etude, Cakebread and Robert Mondavi single-vineyard wines.
For your next celebration, follow the yellow brick road to the historic J.J. Cohn estate and meet owners Bret Lopez and Mimi DeBlasio (Bret is the grandson of legendary movie producer, J.J. Cohn), to taste the select 2008 Scarecrow Cabernet (96 - Wine Spectator). Once part of the legendary Inglenook Vineyard, this vineyard is the source of the heralded Scarecrow Cabernet, which since its debut in 2003 has been one of the most coveted wines in the valley. Admire the “Old Men” vines: original plantings by J.J. Cohn from 1945 and some of the oldest-producing cabernet vines in the valley, which turn out uncommonly rich fruit - the hallmark of Scarecrow wines.
Next, meander through the Rutherford Hills and linger for lunch at the iconic Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford.
